Amidst cheering crowds, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari on Sunday broke off the lock of a sealed house in the Gokalpur area of Delhi, the video of which went viral on Monday. The ongoing sealing drive in Delhi which has resulted in considerable protests is being conducted by the BJP-ruled municipal corporations in the city at the direction of the Supreme Court.

Breaking the lock of the house, Tiwari said, "If there are 1000 houses there then why was only one sealed? I oppose this pick and choose system so I broke the sealed lock."

Tiwari later in a statement said that he had been on a visit to Gokalpur when locals told him that only one house had been sealed by the municipal corporation out of 1,000.

"The locals claimed all the houses were illegally constructed but a particular house was singled out for action by the corporation," he said.

Manoj Tiwari further said that he "wanted to appeal" to the Supreme Court and its monitoring committee to ensure that no such "pick and choose" action was taken in the name of the sealing drive, which had been ordered by the Supreme Court.

"Congress then & Arvind Kejriwal now misled people in the name of converting unauthorised into authorised," said the BJP Delhi president, alleging that the problem of sealing was a result of their 'failure' to address the issue of unauthorised colonies in Delhi.

"I will not even spare municipal corporations, even though the BJP rules them, in such matters," he asserted.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party head Arvind Kejriwal alleged that after demonetisation and GST, now the sealing by the BJP has 'destroyed' Delhi.

"They conduct sealing in the morning and break the lock in the evening. Do they feel people are fools," Kejriwal said.

Congress MLA Mukesh Sharma termed Manoj Tiwari's action as 'drama', while the Delhi Congress is continuing with its 'Nyay Yudh' campaign against 'illegal' sealing of household industries in the city, demanding resignation of BJP MPs.
