As the Opposition is uniting against the BJP, the BJP has launched its own outreach programme 'Sampark for Samarthan', under which Union Minister Vijay Goel on Sunday reached out to rebel Aam Aadmi Party MLA Kapil Mishra on Sunday.

During the meeting with former Delhi minister Mishra at his residence, Goel highlighted the achievements of the Narendra Modi led BJP government at the Centre and said that the 'doors are open' if Kapil Mishra decides to support the BJP.

"Doors are open for anyone who wants to work for the people. Now, it is for Kapil Mishra to decide if he wants to support BJP or not. We want all the good people to support the party, this is why we have started 'Sampark for Samarthan' initiative," Vijay Goel said to media on Monday after meeting Mishra.

Kapil Mishra, the former chief of the Delhi Jal Board was removed from the cabinet position by Delhi Chief Minister and AAP head Arvind Kejriwal last year when Mishra levelled corruption allegations against Kejriwal and other cabinet ministers including Health Minister Satyendar Jain.

While Mishra had been supporting AAP, his family has had close ties with the BJP in the past, with his mother Annapurna Mishra, a senior BJP leader from east Delhi having served as a former mayor of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Delhi CM Kejriwal has reportedly been expressing interest in joining the united Opposition against the BJP, however, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Ajay Maken has strongly ruled out alliance with AAP, which he said was similar to the BJP with their 'jumlas'.
