Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday alleged that the Congress-led UPA government had misused the probe agency to target its chief Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh case by ‘manufacturing evidence’ to politically destroy him.

CM Yogi also demanded Rahul Gandhi apology for his party's actions. He said Shah had been cleared by the court in the case and it had said there is no evidence against him.

"The Congress plays with the security of the country for its gains. It has become clear from the CBI court’s judgment which acquitted all accused and termed it a political conspiracy," Yogi Adityanath said at a press conference in Lucknow.

"Rahul Gandhi should apologize to the country and clear his party’s stand on backing a terrorist (Sheikh)," he said.

CM Yogi added that the Congress leadership was involved in a conspiracy to send Shah to jail but the court’s judgment had exposed them.

He also thanked the court for exposing the conspiracies of the Congress.

Union minister Smriti Irani also said on Tuesday, "The CBI created evidence for a manufactured probe. But the courts have cleared BJP chief Amit Shah of all charges leveled against him. It was a conspiracy by Congress."
