Bihar: 20 Detained For Gang-Raping Woman And Daughter, Tying Husband To Tree

A total of 20 men were detained by the Gaya Police on Thursday for allegedly raping a woman and her daughter while her husband was tied to a tree.

Around 20 armed men allegedly tied a medical practitioner to a tree and gang-raped his wife and 15-year-old daughter on gunpoint near Sondhia village in the Gaya district on late Wednesday evening.   

The police said to the media, ”The youths forcibly stopped the medical practitioner, travelling with his wife and daughter on a motorcycle, near Sondiha village of the district, tied him to a tree after assaulting him, and then took turns to rape took his wife and daughter in a nearby field”

Gaya senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajeev Mishra in a media briefing said that 20 youths were detained within two hours of the incident in Konch police station area. He also told that Rajeev Ranjan, Station House officer of the Konch police station has been suspended in the lapse of his commitment towards his duties.

Mishra added that the victims have identified two of them as the other criminals had covered their faces while committing the crime and the accused are still being questioned.

SSP also said that an FIR has been registered on the statement of the victims. The police is still camping in the village and raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining accused.

Naiyar Hasnain Khan, Inspector General of Police of Patna Zone  while speaking to the media said, “It also came to light during the investigation that before the gang-rape incident, the same group of youths snatched away mobile phones and cash from a couple of students passing through the village,"
