Big Twist In Pradyuman Murder Case: Juvenile Accused To Be Treated As A Major

In a big twist in the Pradyuman Murder Case that shocked the entire nation, the juvenile justice bord Gurugram has decided that the 16 year old juvenile accused will be treated as an adult.

The juvenile who was a class 11 student at Ryan International School was apprehended by the CBI on November 7 after the agency junked the Gurugram Police investigation that had led to the arrest of the bus conductor.Ryan International Class 11 Student Murdered Pradyuman To Delay Exams: CBI

Juveniles aged 16-18 can be treated as adults in case of heinous crimes subject to the decision of the Juvenile justice board. The laws were amended after the Nirbhaya rape and murder case.

On December 15, the board had rejected the bail plea of the accused. However, it had reserved it decision till December 20 on whether the boy would be tried as an adult. The bail of the arrested juvenile was rejected on the basis of two reports submitted by an experts’ committee set up by the board to weigh on the matter.

The board has now transferred the case to District and Sessions Court where the hearing will begin on 22 December.
