Bhubaneswar: BJD’s Aska MP Ladu Kishore Swain Dies At 71

Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP from Aska, Ladu Kishore Swain passed away at the age of 71 on Tuesday night. He was admitted to Apollo hospital in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday due to kidney-related ailments.

Swain was born on July 8, 1947,and was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 from Aska that also covers the Hinjli assembly seat represented by currently represented by the chief minister. He was also elected to the state assembly in 2004 from Kabisuryanagar constituency in Ganjam.

According to family sources, Swain’s last rites will be performed at his ancestral village in Kabisuryanagar.

Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, members of the state council of ministers and leaders cutting across party lines condoled Swain’s death.

Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik paid homage to Swain on Twitter and wrote, "Shocked to hear the demise of Ladu Kishore Swain, MP, Aska. Convey my deep condolences to the bereaved family. Swain was an able parliamentarian as well as a distinguished member of state legislature. His loss is profound. May his soul rest in peace."
