Asaduddin Owaisi Expresses Concern For The Missing IAF Pilot, Says, Pak must follow Geneva convention

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday expressed his grief and concern for the Indian Air Force pilot who was "missing in action" and said Pakistan must respect its obligations under the Geneva Conventions.

"Our prayers are with the brave IAF pilot & his family in this very difficult time. Under Article 3 of Geneva Conventions, every party is required to treat prisoners humanely. Pakistan must respect its obligations towards the IAF pilot, regardless of ongoing circumstances," Owaisi tweeted.

Owaisi's reaction came after the MeA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar confirmed that " One Pakistan Air Force fighter aircraft was shot down by Indian Air Force. In this engagement, we have lost one MiG 21. A pilot is missing in action. Pakistan claims he is in their custody. We are ascertaining the facts."

News Agency ANI also confirmed that one IAF Pilot is missing so far. It also said, "IAF pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan took off in a MiG 21 Bison jet today, he is yet to return."

Pakistan had earlier claimed that it had shot down two aircraft of the Indian Air Force and captured two pilots. Pakistan also released a video claiming that it is of an Indian pilot.
