Arvind Kejriwal Meeting Kamal Haasan, Is An Alliance On The Cards?

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the head of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been facing considerable setbacks since his meteoric rise to the post of Delhi CM, however, as Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan plans to enter politics and has specifically asked for a meeting with Kejriwal, the luck of AAP may just be turning. 

CM Kejriwal having recently returned from Maharashtra after 9 days of meditation is set to go to Chennai on Thursday to meet Haasan.

According to sources, while the purpose of the meeting has been described as "open-ended for now" speculation is rife that Haasan is considering an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party if he decides to float his own party.

"It's too early to say what lies ahead," sources said.

Based from Delhi, AAP has been trying to expand into other states and establish itself as a national party. AAP fought in the Goa and Punjab assembly elections earlier this year, and while it lost in Goa, AAP became the main Opposition party in Punjab. AAP is also planning to contest limited seats in the upcoming Gujarat polls.

A meeting between Kamal Haasan, who is well known across India, and the national convener of AAP may help the party expand in the south of India.

In the past, Kamal Haasan has actively slammed the ruling Edappadi K Palaniswami government and Tamil Nadu politics in general, resulting in threats to audit his films and returns.  

Several top politicians in Tamil Nadu joined from the field of acting, such as Jayalalithaa, M G Ramachandran and M Karunanidhi.
