The famous anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare may have faded from public view after he ended his earlier hunger strike, however, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Hazare announced a day-long hunger strike at Rajghat, saying that the nation is moving away from Gandhiji's vision.

"Today is October 2, Gandhi Jayanti. It's been 70 years since our country gained independence, but we have moved away from the vision he had for India. It is for this reason that I am going to launch my satyagraha from Gandhiji's samadhi," said Hazare.

Hazare alleged that in the past 3 years he wrote 30 letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but did not get any response. In a recent letter sent to the PM, Hazare has threatened to launch a fresh agitation after his day-long dharna on Gandhi Jayanti.

"I am not satisfied with PM Modi's work and am therefore going on a hunger strike. Based on the inspiration I draw after sitting near Gandhiji's statue at Rajghat, I will speak accordingly", Hazare said.

Hazare, in his fight against corruption, is expected to announce an agitation to bring in the Lokpal bill and implement the Swaminathan Commission recommendations.

In 2011, Hazare had begun his historic hunger strike demanding stricter legislation against corruption.
