Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar arrived at Punjab police headquarter on Wednesday regarding the sacrilege in Faridkot which is getting investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
According to reports, Akshay refused to interact to media at the airport. He was before asked to appear on 21 November at Amritsar circuit house but after his appeal, the place was moved to Chandigarh.
The SIT wants to question Akshay Kumar on the basis of Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report on sacrilege incident in which actor’s name was mentioned. The report has a reference letter by former MLA Harbans Jalal saying a meeting took place at actor’s flat between Sukhbir Badal (son of former chief minister Parkash Badal) and Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
The Indian actor has denied all the allegations against him and even refused the rumours of meeting with a chief. Kumar had released his statement through his own Twitter account and wrote, "It has come to my knowledge that some rumours and false statements are being loosely made on social media about my involvement with a person named Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the context of a fictitious meeting involving Sukhbir Singh Badal. With all humility, I would like to state the following facts".
Further, he wrote "I have never ever met Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in my life, anywhere. I learnt from social media at some point that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh resided for a while at some place in my locality Juhu in Mumbai but we never crossed each other's paths."
According to the media reports DIT is likely to question Ram Rahim too about the matter, who is currently locked up in the Sunariya, Rohtak jail. He can be brought to Punjab for investigation process.
