As Karnataka readies itself for the upcoming legislative elections, BJP and Congress have been fighting over several issues, both claiming to champion the cause of the people of Karnataka.

In their campaign BJP roped in Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as their star campaigner. His campaign in Karnataka started a war of words between the two parties. While Yogi questioned CM Sidaramaiah’s Hindu credentials saying if the Karnataka CM was a Hindu, why doesn’t he go ahead and ban beef in the state.

Siddaramaiah responded saying, “A lot of Hindus eat beef. If I want to eat, I will, who are they to tell me not to consume beef. I don’t eat beef only because I don’t like to. He should read what Swami Vivekananda said about cow slaughter before preaching us.”

Both the parties have taken the war a step ahead with Congress tweeting a video that reads, “Here's a recipe for a BJP star campaigner. We don't recommend it.”

The video highlights Yogi’s criminal cases, his statements on homosexuality, his stand on women reservation etc. The video posted on 11 jan has been viewed more than 100,000 times on twitter.

Countering this video the Bharatiya Janata Party, Uttar Pradesh came up with its own video on saturday that reads “Had they done an iota of work in the last 5 years, the prince of Congress would not be making recipes”. The video targets the Congress saying, “They beat Hindus, organise killings, make farmers suffer and people cry, but become Hindu themselves as soon as Yogi reaches, steal saffron and ring bells in temples…… had they done an iota of work in the last 5 years, Congress’ Crown Prince would not be making recipes."
