Abducted Solider Aurangzeb Found Dead In Jammu And Kashmir's Pulwama

Indian army soldier Aurangzeb who was abducted from the Mughal Road in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama was found dead in Gusoo, Pulwama on Thursday night. He was shot in the head and neck, police said.

The 22-year-old Aurangzeb was on leave and going in a private vehicle when he was kidnapped by militants near Kalampora in Shopian on Thursday. The soldier was a part of 44 Rashtriya Rifles and the wreath laying ceremony was held on Friday.

The Army had launched an immense search operation to locate Aurangzeb as news of his disappearance came up.

His body was found few hours after Rising Kashmir's senior editor Shujaat Bukhari was shot dead outside his office in Srinagar.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister expressing pain on the incident tweeted, “Another piece of terrible news to add to an already horrible day. May Aurangzeb rest in peace.”

The Rifleman was a part of some of the major attacks of the Indian Army. He was a part of the commando unit and a part of the team that carried out the Sameer Tiger encounter. 

Earlier, in May last year an unarmed army officer was kidnapped while he was attending a family wedding. His bullet-ridden body was found next day.
