A Braveheart Son Of The Nation DSP Aman Thakur Martyred At Tarigam Encounter

Yet another sad news from Kashmir's Kulgam district where J&K Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Aman Thakur martyred in action during an encounter with militants on Sunday.

Two Army Jawan critically injured and One terrorist has been neutralised so far. Operation underway.

The officer received critical bullet injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Turigam area of Kulgam district following information about the presence of some militants there, a police official said. He said the militants opened fire on security forces, who retaliated, triggering a gun-battle.

The officer was posted in Kulgam form the past two years and during that tenure, he had led all the operations from the front.

Sources said that Thakur had good relations with locals in militancy-infested Kulgam district and was also active in developing inputs for the crackdown on terrorists.

The wreath laying for the martyred officer will take place later in the evening.

DSP Aman Thakur belonged to Jammu's Doda district and is survived by a son and wife.
