4 Army Personnel Booked For Raping & Molesting A Speech Impaired Woman In Pune Hospital

The Pune Police on Wednesday registered a case against 4 army personnel for allegedly molesting and raping a speech impaired woman in Pune’s Military Hospital.

The victim approached a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Indore with her complaint following which it was reported to the police. The NGO sent complaints to the Defence Minister and also the Army Chief.

ACP Kalyanrao Vidhate said, “The incident took place between January to June 2015. Victim & accused used to work in night shifts at the same organization.”

He further added, “She can't speak, so accused took advantage of her condition & committed sexual assault. She told her colleague & he also committed sexual assault. Two other men did the same thing.”

Khadki police station registered an FIR against all four Army personnel. While FIR was registered against three of them under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and one was booked under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code.

All the four Army personnel were posted in the military hospital where the alleged sexual assault took place.
