4 Accused Of Gang-Raping 16-Year-Old In Dehradun Arrested, 5 School Staff Also Detained

A class 10 student of a boarding school in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun was allegedly raped and the school authorities made an attempt to conceal the matter.

Station House Officer, Sahaspur Police Station Naresh Rathore while speaking to News World India said, “Nine people including 4 accused and 5 members of the school administration have been detained. A case has been registered under section 376D, 120B, 201 of the Indian Penal Code and section 5, 6, 16 and 17 of the Protection Children from Sexual Offenses (POSCO) Act.”

The 16-year-old was allegedly raped a day before the Independence Day by four of her seniors and the school staff not only tried to hush up the matter but also made an attempt to terminate the pregnancy.

The matter came to light after a team of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (USCPCR) led by chairperson Usha Negi met the girl and an FIR was registered on its direction.

Negi told a daily newspaper that medicated drinks were given to the girl by the administrator and his wife to terminate the pregnancy. She added that the “girl was also taken to a nursing home for abortion by school officials.”
