35 Students Injured, As Bus Overturns In Himachal Pradesh

The bus, which belonged to a computer center, met with an accident when it got overturned in Jawali sub-division of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday morning.

The accident happened on a hilly road at Jawali, 37 km from Dharamshala.

It carried 35 students, who were beneficiaries under skill development scheme. The bus skidded off the road and fell into a hillside. 

Of the injured, five students are seriously injured and have been referred to the medical college in Tanda. Some of the injured are being treated at the Community Health Centre in Lunj.

According to media reports, students were on their way to Police Grounds, Dharamshala, to attend Modi’s ‘Jan Abhar Rally’ being organized to mark the first anniversary of the BJP government in Himachal Pradesh.

Addressing the rally Modi said, “An accident has taken place. People were injured. I pray for them. The chief minister will ensure that all help is provided to them.”

The Prime Minister urged the people to exercise caution while going back from the rally. “I do not want an accident to take place. Please go slowly... let it take longer,” he said.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi also expressed sadness over the bus accident. Gandhi, in a Facebook post, said he was very sad to hear the news of the bus accident.

"I pray to God that those who are injured get relief as soon as possible. I express my deepest sympathy with the parents of the children," he wrote.
