3 Militants Killed In Encounter In Jammu And Kashmir's Anantnag: Army

A total of 3 militants have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, the Army said on Monday. There was no collateral damage to the security forces, reports stated.

From the 3 slain militants, two have been identified as Eesa Fazli of Soura area in Srinagar and Syed Owais Shafi of Kokernag while the third is yet to be identified. Arms and ammunition including AK 47 rifles, pistols and hand grenades were recovered from the encounter site, Police stated.

According to the police, one of the slain terrorists had been involved in a recent attack on a police guard post at Soura which had led to the death of one police constable.

Late on Sunday night, an anti-militancy operation was launched in the Hakura area of Anantnag district after receiving intelligence about the presence of militants in the area. The militants were killed in a pre-dawn encounter with the security forces.

Fearing protests In the wake of the attack, in which a terrorist belonging to the Soura area of Srinagar city was neutralised, authorities have ordered all schools and colleges to be closed for the day and restrictions have also been imposed in old Srinagar city. High speed internet facilities have also been curtailed.
