1st Ever India's Indigenous Nuclear Submarine INS Arihant Successfully Completes Its First Deterrence Patrol

The first ever India's indigenous nuclear submarine INS Arihant has successfully completed its first deterrence patrol on Monday.

Stressing the significance of the successful deployment of INS Arihant for the completion of India's nuclear triad, the Prime Minister congratulated the crew and all involved in the achievement which puts India among a handful of countries having the capability to design, construct and operate SSBNs.

The successful completion of the deterrence patrol ensures that India will have the necessary second strike capabilities with the country's nuclear shield now complete. A nuclear response option is only feasible if the country's nuclear triad- air, land, and sea, is ready for engagement with enemy forces.

Congratulating the Indian Navy and the Indian defence technologists, President Ram Nath Kovind took to his Twitter account and said, the successful mission of this indigenous nuclear submarine is a landmark moment in the nation's security preparedness.

The Prime Minister said, India's nuclear programme must be seen with regard to country’s efforts to further world peace and stability.

According to media reports, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on this also said, it places India in the league of the few countries that can design, construct and operate Strategic Strike Nuclear Submarines.

She congratulated the Indian armed forces and the entire scientific community for this.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said, it is a momentous occasion for India and will go a long way in safeguarding the strategic and security interests.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, said, today is the day of great pride for 130 crore Indians and the armed forces.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Col Rajyavardhan Rathore said, today is the special day for India as the nuclear submarine INS Arihant successfully completed its first deterrence patrol. He said, it marks the completion of India's nuclear triad and ensures nation's safety and security.
