18 Killed And 15 Injured After A Truck Carrying Laborers Hit A Divider On Pune-Satara Highway

At least 18 people were killed and 15 others injured on Tuesday in a major road accident on Pune-Satara Highway.

As per reports, the accident happened near Khambatki ghat section on Pune-Satara highway, when a truck carrying around 40 workers toppled after hitting a divider. 

All the deceased were workers from Karnataka were travelling to a construction site in Pune when the mishap took place. Among those who died on the spot include four women and a child.

Pune police official told media, "This morning a goods truck carrying over 40 labourers met an accident near Khandala, eighteen people were killed and 15 others injured in the accident."

The injured persons have been shifted to civil hospital in Satara, some of whom are in critical condition. The police report stated that the driver lost control over his vehicle and hit the divider. 

No sooner the accident took place locals informed the police and carried out rescue work. Police have filed a case and ordered investigations. 

In another major accident, 30 people were killed, including 27 kids after a school bus fell 328 feet into a gorge in the Malkwal region of Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district on Monday. The deceased children were all between the ages of 5 and 14 years.
