A 10-year-old boy and two other minors have been killed, and 8 others injured as Pakistan violated ceasefire on Monday early morning along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Army said. The boy has been identified as Israr Ahmad.

According to reports, heavy shelling from the Pakistan side began along the LoC in Kerni area of Poonch district around 6:30 AM, to which India is responding "strongly and effectively" as the firing continues, while the injured have been shifted to a hospital.

The official added that the Pakistani forces targeted dozens of villages and posts in Shahpur, Kerni and Qasba sectors.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have steadily worsened, and the recently concluded United Nations General Assembly witnessed representatives of both the nations taking pot-shots at the other.
