Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday addressed the Jan Akanksha Rally at the Gandhi Maidan in Patna. It was the first public meeting organized by the Congress party in the state in nearly three decades.

Congress also invited top party leaders including Ashok Gehlot, and Tejashwi Yadav to attend the rally in Patna.

Rahul Gandhi started his speech by praising the mahagathbandhan, he said “The rally that has been organised here is historical. I thank the leaders and the netas who have put together this historical rally”.

"Together With Tejashwi & Lalu Ji, Congress Party Will Play At The Front Foot And Hit A Six," he added.

He also talked about the Budget which was announced a few days ago by the Modi government and criticised the BJP for terming it as a historical decision.

Rahul said, "BJP said they took historic steps for farmers in the recent budget. Giving ₹17/day to a farmer is historic for them. What about Anil Ambani who was given ₹30,000Cr, Mehul Choksi- ₹35,000Cr, Nirav Modi- ₹30,000Cr?"

He also accused the party of clapping continuously for 5 minutes after announcing the basic income of Rs 17 per day for farmers, which amounts to Rs 3.5 per member of the family.

He said that PM Modi had promised Rs 15 lakh to the people of Bihar but failed to keep that promise. “It is an insult to the people of Bihar.”.

"For employment, a youth from Bihar is roaming the entire country. Go to any village in Bihar and ask the youth, what does he do? He will tell you that he does nothing but look for a job. The youth has gone to Modi’s Gujarat, he was kicked out after they found out that he is from Bihar," said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi also talked about demonetisation and said that PM Modi came and decided that he does not like the Rs 500 note or Rs 1,000 note. He made the common man stand in lines in front of the banks to get rid of black money.

He said that PM Modi took money from the pockets of the people of Bihar and put it in the pockets of his rich friends.

Rahul Gandhi also talked about how Congress kept its promise after winning elections in the 3 states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan and waived off farmers’ loans within two days.

He further said that the Modi government did not give any relief to the farmers during their years in the office.

Rahul Gandhi also talked about PM Modi’s various international trips and accused him of putting the Rafale deal in jeopardy. He also reiterated the fact that the “ache din” is gone. Now the new slogan is “Chowkidar chor hai.”

Talking about the education system in the state he said, "the Nalanda University which was famous for its education worldwide has lagged in recent years. The Patna University is no better. There is a genuine lack of teachers and everyone is aware of this."

Rahul Gandhi also announced that when the Congress party comes to power, every poor person in the country will get a guaranteed minimum income. He also accused PM Modi of giving crores of rupees to the rich in the country while depriving the poor people.
