5 Terrorists Killed In Jammu & Kashmir's Kulgam District

Five terrorists have been killed on Saturday by the security forces in an encounter at Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district.

In a tweet, Jammu and Kashmir police said, "A huge success for Police and security forces. It was a combo of Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. Most of them were involved in a series of terror acts including killing of 2 bank employees and many policemen. Also involved in bank robberies and weapon looting."

Following the terror attack in the valley, train services between Baramulla-Qazigund have been suspended until the situation come under control.

The operation was launched by the security forces on getting the intelligence inputs that terrorists have been hiding at Chowgam, a village in Kulgam district, 72 km from Srinagar.

When the search operation was going on, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces, of which, Indian security forces responded strongly to Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists attack in the valley.

Last month the Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), R R Bhatnagar said around 142 terrorists have been eliminated in anti-terror operations in the state.

He also said that around 200-250 terrorists are believed to be still operating in the Kashmir Valley.
