Congress chief Rahul Gandhi addressed a public meeting in Odisha’s Bhawanipatna on Wednesday. This was Gandhi’s second visit to the state this year.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi Wednesday made a brief stopover at the Jagdalpur airport in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district before proceeding to Odisha.

Rahul during his speech made a strong remark over his minimum income promise, he said, “no power can stop us from providing minimum income. I can’t promise Rs 15 lakh, but I can give my word for a minimum income.”

“You know how Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh gave special attention to Kalahandi Bolangir and Koraput. Similarly, we understand that you need special attention but Naveen Patnaik knows how to snatch that from you,” said Rahul Gandhi at Bhawanipatna rally.

Rahul again attacked Modi government, he said, “be it Narendra Modi or Naveen Patnaik, they run the government for their rich friends. PM Modi gave only Rs 3.5 to farmers.”

"However, he waived off loans of his friend's worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore. PM Narendra Modi put money of NREGS remuneration of 10 people in the hands of 15," he added.

"Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik obliges by what the PM Narendra Modi says, he is remote controlled,” said Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress chief, further said at Bhawanipatna rally, "for five years, PM Modi said he would save farmers and his chief ministers said the same thing, but our (Congress]) chief ministers completed the task in two days.”

Talking about farmers, Rahul said, “Go to Chhatisgarh and ask farmers how much they get paid for selling paddy. It is Rs 2500. How much Naveen Patnaik gives you."

"Once our govt comes to power in Odisha we would give Rs 2600 within two hours.[This is your area, your land, water and forests. This is connected to you. When we were in power, we passed the PESA Act for you. We have to give back the lands of tribals back to them," he added.

"We are doing it in Chhatisgarh. Tata factory was to be built in Chhatisgarh, it couldn’t b built in five years, so Congress government so our government gave back the land to tribals,” Rahul said.
