BJP President Amit Shah addressed a rally in Mohanpur in the poll-bound Tripura on Sunday.

Speaking at the rally Shah targetted the CPI (M) Government, calling it the main reason behind the worsened conditions in Tripura. He held a roadshow while travelling from Bamutia to Mohanpur, where he addressed a public meeting.

Shah slammed the CPM Government over poverty and unemployment by saying, “The situation in Tripura has gone from bad to worse in the last 25 years of Communist misrule. The Communists have unleashed poverty and unemployment, whenever and wherever they are in power. The people of the state are desperately looking for a change and want development, which can be delivered only by a BJP government.”

“Communism has ended in the whole world. Now, it's the time for the people of Tripura to put an end to Communist rule here” he further added.

BJP President pitched BJP's development plank in the North Eastern state. He was quoted by ANI saying, "We want to change politics of violence in Tripura to politics of development. In Tripura, birth anniversaries of Stalin & Lenin are celebrated but not of Tagore & Vivekanand. Bring BJP govt in the state and within five years we will make it a model state."

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Assam BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sharma and Shahnawaz Hussain unveiled the Vision 2019 document for Tripura at a function in Agartala.

Concluding his roadshow, Shah tweeted, "I heartily thank people of Tripura for their massive support and unparalleled affection during my Roadshow from Bamutia to Mohanpur. BJP is all set to form a people friendly and pro-development government in Tripura."

During his two-day visit to the state, Shah is scheduled to address election rallies further in Chawmanu and Teliamura. Tripura is set to go to polls on 18 February and the results will be announced on 3 March.
