Diwali, the festivals of light has begun! This year, the festival will be celebrated on October 19th.

Diwali signifies the victory of good over the evil and marks the return of Lord Rama with Sita to Ayodhya after an exile of 14 years.

To mark the occasion, people decorate their houses with torans and flowers and also design colourful rangoli at the home's entrance.

Many devotees of Mahalakshmi also observe fast. The Lakshmi Vrat concludes only after the elaborate Lakshmi Puja in the evening.

The best time to perform the Mahalakshmi Puja on October 19th, Thursday is during the Pradosh Kaal that starts from the sunset. The best time for Diwali Lakshmi puja is from 7:11 pm in the evening till 8:16 pm. As per astrology experts, this is the time that will yield the best rewards for worshiping Lakshmi and performing her puja and aarti.

Lakshmi Puja Rituals

Lakshmi Puja on Diwali is performed by placing the new idol of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha on a new red or yellow cloth. The lotus flower must be presented to the goddess on Diwali puja, the flower has the great importance on that day. Devotees chant mantaras patiently while performing the Lakshmi Puja. Sweets and freshly made eatables are presented to the Goddess and to conclude the puja, Lord Ganesha and Mahalakshmi’s aarti is sung.
