India's social-media savvy and dearly beloved External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is currently in the US, representing India at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York and conducting a variety of bilateral meets on its sidelines.

One meeting was unexpected for Swaraj, a meeting with US President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump, who is also the advisor to the US President as Swaraj's extensive list of engagements did not expressly mention meeting Ivanka.

Ivanka is set to lead a delegation of US entrepreneurs to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) that would be co-hosted by India and the US in Hyderabad from November 28 to 30 this year.

During the meeting, Swaraj and Ivanka discussed issues related to women empowerment as well as the upcoming GES.

After the meeting, Ivanka said that she was honoured to meet EAM Swaraj, whom she described as "accomplished and charismatic".

"We had a great discussion on women's entrepreneurship, the upcoming #GES2017 and workforce development in the US and India," Ivanka added in another tweet.

The GES to be held in Hyderabad this year is an annual gathering of emerging entrepreneurs, investors and business leaders from across the world.

Arriving in the US on Sunday, Swaraj met with various world leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, including a trilateral meeting between India, Japan and the US which apart from other issues discussed the security threat and instability in the Korean Peninsula in the wake of North Korea's unrestrained nuclear and missile tests.

Swaraj has also met with leaders from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Tunisia, Latvia, Denmark, the UAE and Bahrain and is expected to conduct another 20 bilateral and trilateral meetings before she addresses the UNGA session on Saturday.
