On the second day of his China trip, Prime Minister Narender Modi had a 'chai pe charcha' or a discussion over tea with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The two leaders met at Wuhan's East lake where they had a brief walk followed by a boat ride.

Both the leaders held six meetings in 24 hours and discussed trade, strategic military relations, tourism and other regional issues.

"These informal meetings between two leaders will continue and strategic communication will be strengthened," Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said, briefing media over the summit.

As per reports, the two nations have also decided to undertake a joint India-China economic project in Afghanistan. This is a development that could be potentially upsetting for Pakistan.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi tweeted, "The talks with President Xi Jinping focussed on diverse areas of India-China cooperation. We discussed ways to give impetus to our economic ties as well as people-to-people relations. Other areas we spoke about include agriculture, technology, energy and tourism."
