India Air Force Is All Set To Participate In The Pitch Black Exercise At Australia

The Indian Air Force will participate in the Pitch Black 2018 exercise for the first time. The exercise is conducted at RAAF Base Darwin and RAAF Base Tindal in Australia. This exercise will commence from 24th July and will continue till 18th August.

The participating team consists of 145 air-warriors, with 4 Su-30 MKI, C-130, C-17, Garud Commandos and observers with diverse specializations.

IAF completed its second round in Indonesia on Saturday. The IAF'S C-17 crosses abeam from Surabaya to Kupang flying over Mount Bromo. The Indian Air Force Contingent left for exercise from West Bengal to Surabaya where all the IAF birds were checked on July 19 and 20.

"The exercise will provide a unique opportunity for exchange of knowledge and experience with these nations in a dynamic warfare environment. Participation in multinational air exercise assumes importance in view of the continued engagement of the IAF with friendly foreign countries," the IAF said.


Pitch Black is vital to corroborate operational exposure and enhance the capability of the Aircraft. Exercise Pitch Black features a range of realistic, simulated threats which are expected in a modern battle-space environment.

It would provide an opportunity to test and improve force integration, utilizing one of the largest training areas in the world  Bradshaw Field Training Area and Delamere Air Weapons Range in Australia.
