Navratri, the nine-day long festival, is one of the grandest and most-widely celebrated festivals in India. People from around the country celebrate this festival with zest. The most distinguishing rituals of the Navratras are the fasts that people observe, which is dictated by strict norms on what to eat and what not. So fasting can be for two reasons - religious or people might be looking to cut those extra calories and lose some weight. Anyhow, whatever is the reason, observing fast for all the nine days should be done in a healthy way to ensure that you are energised throughout. Utsav-Ki-thali You certainly don't want to gain weight, so avoiding fatty foods should be on priority.  With this post we'll tell you how to stay away from those fried stuffs. However, first you need to keep these five points in mind.
  1. Make sure to eat small meals after every 2-hour as long gaps between meals as it might lead to acidity.
  2. Carry dry fruits with you as maintaining nutrition is very essential. Also, this will help to maintain blood glucose level.
  3. During the fast, table salt is strictly prohibited, but try to add rock salt or sendha namak in your food. Rock salt is a pure form of salt and is rich in potassium, which helps in digestion, relieving gas and comforting heart burns.
  4. Go for cooling foods such as curd. You can always mix some fruits in your curd to add taste.
  5. Make sure you keep yourself hydrated. Drink water, milk, green tea, coconut water, lemon water, buttermilk and fresh juices.
WHAT TO EAT
Sabudana

However, you can't ignore this important ingredient from your diet at least during fast. Sabudana is a source of carbohydrates that provides much-needed energy boost. To avoid oil, you can simply combine sabudana with vegetables like tomatoes, cabbage, spinach and capsicum and make tikki out of them, and the twist is bake them instead of frying. Other than that, sabudana khichdi and kheer are other dishes you can make out of it.
Amaranth

Also you can make pancakes topped with fruits and honey.
Samak Rice
