Aamir Khan Was Offered '2.0'? Here's Why Mr Perfectionist Rejected The Role!

Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan never leaves any stone unturned to achieve perfection at whatever he does, be it acting or filmmaking. At the age of 52, the actor has reached a stage in his career where the number of films doesn't matter to him but doing the right ones does.

His recently released 'Secret Superstar' is receiving mixed reviews, most of which suggests that it is a must watch the film. Another film that the nation has eagerly been waiting for months is S. Shankar's sci-fi thriller '2.0', and the film was reportedly offered to Aamir first.

Arguably the most expensive Indian film till date with an estimated budget of over Rs 4.5 billion, the Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer is the sequel to 2010's fantasy drama 'Robot' which starred the Thalaiva along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

In a recent interview given to a leading media house, Aamir revealed that he was offered Rajnikanth's role in the big-budget film but he couldn't accept it. Aamir stated that the South-Indian superstar himself called him to accept the role but he couldn't see himself reprising such a memorable character.

Aamir said, "Rajini sir himself wasn't feeling well that time so he told Shankar, please request Aamir. Rajini Sir called me up and said: 'Please do the film'."

While calling Rajnikanth "irreplaceable", Khan said that there was no way that he would have been able to do justice to the film as, "Emotionally, when I used to think of the film, think of the scene, Rajini sir used to come in my head," Aamir said.

Talking about his final decision of rejecting the film, he said, "I am huge fan of Rajini sir, his whole performance and the way he had created that character had got imprinted in my mind. So Part 2, when I am reading the lines, I am only imagining Rajini sir! I cannot imagine myself only so I didn't do it. and it's not a tough decision for me."

Aamir is sure that the multi-lingual film will break all records on box-office post its release on January 25, 2018. The film is supposed to release in over 8000-9000 screens and also has Sudhanshu Pandey and Amy Jackson in prominent roles.
