OMG! Whopping Rs 7 Crore Spent To Construct A Set Of Sushant Singh Rajput's Kedarnath

Sara Ali Khan's debut film 'Kedarnath' is creating a buzz among the masses for various reasons. While the unique concept and backdrop are few reasons for piquing the interest of eager cinema-goers, the big budget of the film has now become the latest highlight.

Reportedly, the set constructed by film's team for the second schedule of 'Kedarnath' in Mumbai has cost the Producers over Rs 7 crore. The set replicates the holy city of Uttar Pradesh where the first schedule was shot to record the flood schemes.

Speaking to DNA, a source said, "They have replicated the entire holy city at a whopping cost. A model of the Kedarnath temple has also been designed. Since the film is an inter-faith love story, set against the backdrop of the devastating Uttarakhand floods, the makers plan to shoot the flood sequences now."

He added, "Hence, this will be the city that will go under the water. Huge water tankers, too, are going to be made available for the shoot." The expensive set has created a dent in the pocket of producers Prernaa Arora and Abhishek Kapoor.

The source confirmed, "Prernaa Arora and Abhishek Kapoor, who are co-producing the film, didn't want to compromise on their vision. Building the whole set has cost them a whopping Rs 7 crore. In recent times, this is one of the biggest sets that has been created."

Abhishek Kapoor directorial is set against the backdrop of terrifying 2013 Uttarakhand floods which affected the temple of Kedarnath, the most. The love pilgrimage is the journey of two devotees who victoriously fight the wrath of nature with faith.

Kedarnath starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan is expected to hit the theatres on December 21, 2018.
