Veteran Actor Dilip Kumar Admitted To Lilavati Hospital Over Complaints Of Chest Congestion

Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday after the actor complained of uneasiness.

“Saab has been admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital as he was bit uneasy due to a chest infection. He’s recuperating. Requesting your duas and prayers,” read the tweet posted by Faisal Farooqui, the actor’s close friend who also handles his social media.

The versatile actor, whose real name is Muhammed Yusuf KhanYusu, is known for his memorable performances in classics like 'Andaz', 'Aan', 'Madhumati', 'Devdas', 'Mughal-e-Azam', 'Ganga Jamuna', 'Kranti', 'Karma' and others.

Earlier in 2017, Kumar was in the hospital for a short time because of a kidney-related ailment. Few months after he returned home from the hospital, he was again advised to rest as he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Dilip Kumar celebrated his 95th birthday with wife Saira Banu and friends at home while his 94th birthday celebrations were at Lilavati Hospital in 2016 where he was being treated for fever and a swollen leg. Dilip Kumar married Saira Banu in 1966.

Veteran Actor and Kumar’s wife Saira Banu told the media, "We are here at Lilavati and we come here for a routine check-up regularly. He will be here for a few days, as long as the doctors want to do tests. All kinds of tests will be conducted. There is a team of doctors here, chest physician, neurologist.”

"The tests are being conducted under Dr. Nitin Gokhale. We need your wishes so we can go home soon," she added
