Mika Singh, who was detained in the United Arab Emirates after a sexual harassment complaint against him had been released from detention, following the efforts of the Indian Mission in Abu Dhabi.

According to media reports, Navdeep Singh Suri, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, said that Mika Singh had sought consular access and the embassy staff was working on his case.

Speaking to media, Navdeep Suri said, "Our Embassy is following the issue closely with UAE authorities. Our team was at the police facilities till he was released. He was grateful for all the help he received from the mission. We will continue to follow up the matter."

Mika is expected to now be produced in a court sometime on Friday despite it being a weekly holiday in the Emirate.

Mika Singh was arrested in UAE on Thursday from Bur Dubai, a historic and commercial district with many hotels, on the charges of alleged sexual misconduct. The Bollywood singer had been apparently accused of sending inappropriate pictures to a 17-year-old Brazilian girl.
