Bollywood has always been fascinated with biopics which more than often interests the audience as well. Be it Omung Kumar's 'Mary Kom' or Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', the filmmakers have and are working on bringing the lives of legendary sports personalities on screen.

Although, whenever it comes to the depiction of film icon's biopic, things turn sour for some of the other reason. Without a doubt, the lives of yesteryear's stars were full of drama and controversies, the portrayal of which often causes a rift between makers and legend's family members, sending the project to the pipeline.

Earlier, movies on the life of legends like Kishore Kumar and Raj Kapoor has been put on hold due to the similar reason. The latest entrant in the list of biopics is one of Bollywood's tragedy Queen, Meena Kumari. After Vidya Balan's walk out, the controversial film might land in Sunny Leone's lap.

Portraying the legendary actress onscreen could prove to be a turning point in the life of any artist including Sunny, who according to filmmaker Karan Razdan eagerly wanted to play the lead in Meena Kumari biopic. However, despite Leone's enthusiasm, the director felt she was "not the ideal choice".

While talking to Indian Express, Karan Razdan stated, "I think the only one, who is courageous enough and said to me, 'When can we start this film?', has been Sunny Leone. I have narrated it to Madhuri and Vidya but it didn't work out for one reason or the other."

He added, "Sunny came along, she said she had heard about this film and wanted me to narrate it. I met her at her house, had a long narration. I don't know... She is not the ideal choice, I would say. But she was the most enthusiastic about doing the role. I guess, she also saw this as her big chance."

Given the criticism Sunny Leone has garnered ever since entering the film industry for her poor acting skills, she would have been surely been a poor choice for playing the screen icon, no offence. The director's ideal choice Vidya Balan turned down the film for unknown reasons.

Revealing the real reason, the director said, "I narrated her something but at the moment she is wanting to do something that's non-serious. She has had too much of serious stuff. We spoke at length. Maybe tomorrow, I may have that kind of a script for her. But at the moment, I wanted her to play the role of an actress of the 1960s. The film dealt with alcoholism and tragedy."

After working in iconic films like Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Pakeezah, Mere Apne, Aarti, Baiju Bawra, Parineeta and Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai, Meena Kumari passed away at the age of 38 while battling alcoholism.
