The entire nation wept on Wednesday as Boney Kapoor performed the final rites for 'his wife and friend' Sridevi at the Vile Parle crematorium while bidding adieu to Bollywood's first female Superstar.

Sridevi's sudden demise left her admirers from all around the globe grief-stricken but none could be compared to the emotional state of her family. Most of all, her husband was the most shaken after putting his wife's pyre on fire.

Pouring his heartfelt gratitude towards all those who stood by him and his daughters through the tragedy, Boney Kapoor posted a soul-stirring note on Twitter and thanked his family, friends and colleagues for their support.

Boney wrote, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my family, friends, colleagues, well-wishers and all of you countless fans of my Sridevi who have stood by us like rocks. I am blessed to have the support and love of Arjun and Anshula, who have been such pillar of strengths for myself, Khushi and Janhvi. Together as a family, we have tried to face this unbearable loss."

Notably, Boney's children from first wife Arjun and Anshula, who didn't share a warm relationship with Sridevi stood by their father throughout the difficult time. Arjun, in fact, halted the shooting of Namaste England when the heart-wrenching news broke out and returned to Mumbai.

As mentioned by many, Sridevi was the light of Boney's life and her loss was unbearable for the filmmaker. "To the world, she was their Chandni, the actor par excellence, their Sridevi, but to me, she was my love, my friend, mother to our girls, my partner. To our daughters, she was their everything, their life. She was the axis around which our family ran," he wrote.

Boney and his two daughters have been reportedly inconsolable since the tragedy hit their little family. However, they have been unable to grief privately due to the media frenzy which prompted the filmmaker to request for some respect.

"As we bid goodbye to my beloved wife and Khushi and Janhvi’s muma, I have a sincere request. Please respect our need to grieve privately. If you need to talk of Sri, let it be of the special memories that connect each of you to her," he wrote.

Undoubtedly, Sridevi was a joining force for Boney and his daughters and with her demise, there are high chances of their little nest to break apart. Trying to refrain from any unsettling development, Boney Kapoor asked for privacy to grieve properly.

"Rest in peace, my love. Our lives will never be the same again," Boney signed off. His entire family has stood by him through his loss who have been equally affected by Sridevi demise. In a joint statement issued by the entire Kapoor, Ayyapan and Marwah family, they requested for privacy to grieve.
