South Indian Film Fraternity Pay Condolences At Sridevi's Prayer Meet In Chennai

The sudden demise of Bollywood's first female superstar has shocked and saddened the entire nation. Sridevi had a special connection with South Indian film fraternity. Starting her acting career from Tamil cinema, the actress rose to fame through her performance in South films only.

Kapoor family organised a special prayer meeting for the late actress in Chennai on Sunday. Many Tamil celebrities reached the prayer hall to pay their condolences to the departed soul's family. Sridevi's husband and daughters- Janhvi and Khushi flew down from Mumbai to attend the event.

While the prayer meet was off-limits for the media, several renowned faces including Suriya, his wife Jyothika, composer AR Rahman along with his family, filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj, Prabhudeva, Meena, Radhika Sarthakumar, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Srikanth, Arun Vijay and director KS Ravikumar marked their presence at the prayer meeting.

Popular actor Ajith, who reportedly shared a warm rapport with the late actress reached to offer his prayers along with his wife Shalini. Notably, the actor was supposed to play a cameo in Sridevi's 'English Vinglish' but due to some unknown reasons, the role landed in Amitabh Bachchan's lap.

Latha Rajinikanth also marked her presence at the meet but Thalaiva was missing from the event as he is on a pilgrimage to the Himalayas. The duo had reportedly broken their long tradition of celebrating their anniversary on a grand scale this year to pay respect to Sridevi.

A prayer meeting was also organised by Tamil film industry’s executive body Nadigar Sangam in Chennai, which was attended by many office-bearers and other members of the film fraternity. Sridevi passed away in the wee hours of February 24 due to accidental drowning in Dubai.
