Shah Rukh Khan's First Biopic 'Salute' Based On Rakesh Sharma To Go On Floors In September

With many celebrities taking interest in playing the real-life heroes on screen and bringing their life struggle to the notice of their compatriots, Shah Rukh has reportedly signed his first Biopic. After months of speculations, sources suggest that King Khan will be seen representing India's first astronaut Rakesh Sharma.

Earlier Aamir Khan was reportedly roped in for the role but his walkout left the project in Shah Rukh's lap. The actor has suggestively locked his dates for Mahesh Mathai directorial titled 'Salute' which will go on floor in September this year. SRK is currently busy with Aanand L Rai's Zero but will complete the shooting by April.

The information was confirmed by a reliable source to a leading publication along with the lines, "Zero is a film which will require a lot of VFX. Shah Rukh will wrap up Zero by April. He will perhaps begin the shoot of Salute by September and will shoot for close to two to three months and wrap its first schedule. The next schedule of Salute will begin from Jan 2019."

'Salute' earlier had Priyanka Chopra as the female lead opposite Aamir Khan but post his ouster, the global sensation also pulled her name back. Reportedly, Shah Rukh Khan has only given his nod to the film post the actress removed herself from the project as the duo doesn't work together anymore due to various differences.

Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur have reportedly approached Shah Rukh Khan many times for the role before, which he denied each time due to his commitment towards Zero. SRK's sudden agreement for the film has ignited the rumours of his cold war with PeeCee. No name to play Rakesh Sharma's wife in 'Salute' has yet been finalised.

The film based on the life of first Indian to fly into space, Rakesh Sharma was earlier titled Saare Jahaan Se Accha, which was the astronaut's response Indira Gandhi's question about how India looks from outer space but later changed to 'Salute'. Shah Rukh Khan's Zero has him playing a dwarf whereas Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif will also feature opposite him.
