Ranveer Singh Admits Of Being 'Filled With Rage' Over Death Threats To Deepika Padukone

Ever since Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversy-laden film 'Padmaavat' has released in the theatres, the leading trio is showered with praises. During the year-long struggle, many outrageous comments were thrown at the film's cast including the death threats and head bounties.

Ranveer Singh who has been lauded for his portrayal of tyrant ruler Alauddin Khilji recently got candid with an India Today and revealed his state of mind during the agonizing period when the protesting fringe group threatened the life of his rumoured girlfriend Deepika Padukone.

"I was filled with rage. There's no doubt about that. I had a very strong urge to act out, to speak out, but I was given strict instructions not to. And I had to respect that because I was not at the forefront of this fight," Ranveer admitted.

He further added, "It's the prerogative of the producers, of the director. If they were explicitly telling me that me saying something or doing something is going to complicate things further, I don't want to complicate their lives."

"I want to do my bit to make sure that this film gets made and it gets released. If this is what they are asking me to do, I have to abide by that," the actor confirmed of channelling his anger into his performance.

Despite not getting released in a few states, the magnum opus has collected over Rs 200 crore at the box-office so far. Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh starrer revolve around the Tyrant ruler's obsession to warrior queen which ends with the latter's untimely demise.
