Whenever a period film depicting the life of any legendary contributor of history is about to hit the theatres, many controversies follow. The most common being protests by the community groups, the film characters belong to.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Magnum Opus, 'Padmavati' is also in trouble with the Rajput group, Karni Sena, members of which allegedly burnt the posters of the film on Saturday. They claimed that the director has backed out of his words of getting the film approved by the community leaders before its release.

The organisation has earlier protested against the portrayal of some certain facts in reference to the emperor, Alauddin Khilji 's character and injured Sanjay while the team was shooting in Jaipur at Nahargarh Fort. The members of the group gathered at Jaipur's Rajmandir Cinema Hall on Saturday to burn the film posters.

Narain Singh Divrala, the district president of Karni Sena said, "While shooting in Jaipur Bhansali had promised to show the film to us and historians before releasing it. But since then no one has contacted us, nor has the film been shown to us."

As per the organization's claims, Rani Padmavati's character in the film has been misrepresented, due to which they will not allow the film to open in theatres. If Bhansali gets the film approved by the organisation leaders, then only they will stop the protests.

"We want him to show the film to the core committee of Shri Rajput Karni Sena and various organizations, including historians, before releasing it. Till then we will not allow the film to be released," said Divrala.

He added, "If the Karni Sena core committee and historians don't have any problems only then will we allow screening of the movie." The first poster of 'Padmavati' was released on September 21 only causing the organisation to come into action and threaten the film's release.

An activist from the Rajput group put forward the argument, "We will not allow distorted facts to be shown in the film at any cost, and will see to it that the film is not screened in half of India. They are trying to defame Padmavati by distorting historical facts. It is not acceptable."

The period drama is slated to hit the theatres on December 1. The film will revolve around the warrior queen of Chittore, Rani Padmavati played by Deepika Padukone. Shahid Kapoor will be seen as Raja Ratan Singh whereas Ranveer Singh will play emperor, Alauddin Khilji in the film.
