Popular Bollywood producer Karim Morani, who was accused of raping a 25-year-old girl repeatedly in Mumbai and Hyderabad, has surrendered after his anticipatory bail was cancelled by the Hyderabad High Court.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, M Venkateswara Rao said, "Morani surrendered before the Hayathnagar police around midnight. After completing legal formalities, he will be produced before a court today."

Karim had appealed in Supreme Court on September 5, after Hyderabad High Court's decision of cancelling his anticipatory bail in the case. His bail was cancelled due to the concealment of fact regarding his connection with the 2G scam.

The producer has spent months in Jail for being an accused in the 2G scam case. Though, the Apex Court also sustained the high court's decision on Friday, following which Morani was arrested by the Hyderabad Police.

The rape victim who is an aspiring actress has claimed that Karim lured her into the physical relationship on the pretence of marrying her. The MBA student was first raped by Morani in July 2015 when the latter invited her for a party and drugged her.

The producer had incidentally clicked some nude pictures of the woman which he used to further blackmail and refrain her from involving the police. Post the incident, Morani repeatedly violated the victim by sexually exploiting her on many occasions.
