Rumour has it that Priyanka Chopra is taking home a big fat pay packet for Salman Khan's Bharat, and the amount is the same as what Deepika Padukone was paid for Padmaavat.

Deepika took a paycheck of Rs 12 crore for Padmaavat, and was reportedly paid more than both her co-stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. Priyanka too has agreed on the same figure of Rs 12 crore for Bharat. However, there's still time before actresses can demand profits shares like their male colleagues do. Meanwhile, there's no word on how much male lead Salman Khan's taking home.

PC's team initially asked for Rs. 14 crores as her remuneration fee but considering the current industry standards, they closed the deal at Rs 12 crore.

Priyanka and Deepika are apparently at the same rank in terms of being the highest paid actress of Bollywood. Priyanka may not have made an appearance in Bollywood for two years but the actress is still one of the most sought-after stars in the industry.

Priyanka has always been vocal about gender pay gap in the entertainment industry, be it Hollywood or Bollywood or the business sectors, regarding men getting paid higher salaries than the females.

Recently Priyanka had spoken at length about pay disparity with an international magazine.

“I feel it every year, especially when you’re doing movies with really big actors, whether it’s in India or America. If an actor is getting 100 bucks, the conversation will start with max, like, 8 bucks. The gap is that staggering. In America, we don’t talk about it as brashly, whereas in India the issue is not skirted around," said Priyanka.

"I’ve been told straight up if it’s a female role in a movie with big, male actors attached, your worth is not really considered as much. It happens in both countries, it’s just that here, it’s hidden behind other things. In America, everyone is so worried about being liable that they don’t want to say anything wrong, but they end up doing it anyway,” said the actress.
