'Padman' Official Poster: Akshay Kumar To Break Menstrual Taboos On Republic Day 2018

Once known as the comedy king of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar seems to have ventured into a completely different territory. The 50-year-old actor who is among one the most expensive actors of Bollywood is currently busy in spreading social messages among the masses through his influential films.

After motivating people to build toilets in his film 'Toilet- Ek Prem Katha', Akshay is all ready to promote menstrual hygiene with his upcoming film 'Padman'. Based on the life-story of India's 'menstrual man' Arunachalam Muruganantham, the film is all ready to hit the theatres on January 26, 2018.

The official poster of this R Balki directorial has finally been unveiled with the background of holy town Varanasi. With a graceful smile adorning his lips, enlighting all of his features, Akshay is riding a bicycle with his hands up in the air.

Arunachalam was a revolutionary social activist belonging to Tamil Nadu transformed the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine. He made the eco-friendly napkins which were easy to carry for village-based women.

Apart from Akshay, the film has Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles. While Radhika will reportedly play Kumar's wife, Sonam is reportedly the 'other woman' in his life. The legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan will also be seen in a cameo in the film.

The film was shot in the mere time period of 37 days due to the low budget. Akshay's wife and popular columnist Twinkle Khanna is also one of the producers and along with the whole cast is very excited for the release of this ambitious film.
