Massive Fire Breaks Out On The Sets Of Akshay Kumar-Starrer Kesari During Climax Shoot

With only 10 days remaining for wrapping up the shoot of Akshay Kumar's film 'Kesari', a huge fire broke out on the film's sets in Wai district of Maharashtra where the unit was shooting the climax sequence with the lead actor. No causalities were reported.

Akshay has reportedly completed his part for the day and left before the fire broke out but rest of the crew was present at the sets. Police have confirmed that the fire was brought under control and nobody was hurt. The location is said to be around 30 km from Satara.

The final shots included the sequence which involves the Battle of Saragarhi and required a scene depicting a bomb explosion. Some embers mistakenly fell on the set props erupting an instant fire in the vicinity. A huge part of the film's sets was severely damaged.

The mishap has put the shooting on hold and might lead to huge amount of losses for the producers. Marking a comeback of erstwhile director Anurag Singh, the ambitious film 'Kesari' is bankrolled by Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films and Azure Entertainment.

Recently, Akshay had suffered an injury in his ribs while shooting for the movie and a chopper was kept on standby to take him home. Apart from Akshay Kumar who is playing Havildar Ishwar Singh, who led the Sikh army through the Battle of Saragarhi, Parineeti Chopra is also starring in the film.

The Battle of Saragarhi was fought between Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen on 12 September 1897. The British Indian army had only 21 Sikh who was fighting over 10,000 Afghans. Though, they chose to fight to the death. Sikhs still celebrate this day as Saragarhi day.
