The past years, Khiladi Kumar has stayed away from the cliché storylines and focused on the films with more off-beat concepts. After warning the people against open defecation and spreading the message of menstrual hygiene, Akshay is all ready to take the viewers on an untold journey of Battle of Saragarhi.

While the film based on the battle fought in 1897 has been in the pipeline for long, the cast has finally started shooting for the inspiring period drama. Akshay Kumar brightened his fans' Friday morning by sharing his turban-clad first look from the film helmed by 'Jatt and Juliet'  director Anurag Singh.

Having played a Sikh character in his film 'Singh is Kinng' and 'Singh is Bliing', Akshay is not new to the turban. However, in Kesari, he will be seen in a serious avatar as a constable. Looking like a true Sikh, the actor has started shooting for the film and is extremely proud of himself for playing the character.

Sharing his first look from the film on Twitter, Akshay Kumar wrote, "Feeling nothing but immense pride and gratitude while sharing this. Beginning my 2018 with #KESARI, my most ambitious film and a lot of passion. Need your best wishes as always."

Post Salman Khan walked out of the film, Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar decided to co-produced Kesari without him. Apparently, Salman's good friends, Ajay Devgn in collaboration with Rajkumar Santoshi is planning a film on the same subject with the rumoured title 'Sons of Sardaar'.

The Battle of Saragarhi was fought between Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen on 12 September 1897. The British Indian army had only 21 Sikh who was fighting over 10,000 Afghans. Though, they chose to fight to the death. Sikhs still celebrate this day as Saragarhi day.
