Karan Johar Spends Whopping Rs 15 Crore For Recreating Old Delhi In 'Kalank'

Karan Johar has reportedly created a huge set for his forthcoming film 'Kalank' and paid a huge amount of Rs 15 crore for the same. The set has been erected in Film City, which is kept under heavy security to ensure that pictures of the interiors shall not leak.  

The movie was planned by Karan Johar and his dad in the back 90s. He said that Kalank has been an emotional journey for him. Film's shooting has started after 15 years. Karan and Sajid last collaborated for Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor's successful film 'Two States'.

Before the beginning of Kalank’s journey, it had seen the sudden demise of the actress Sridevi who was the first choice for this film. The production is thankful to Madhuri Dixit for being a part of this movie in her place.

Nowadays, the most liked onscreen couple Varun and Alia had begun their shooting for the movie after several blockbusters together. At the same time, the audience will also be entertained with the collab of Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt after 21 years.

'Kalank' is an upcoming Abhishek Verman’s epic drama Hindi period movie produced by the grand collaboration of Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala and fox star studios. Starring Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt in female leads and Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt will be in male lead roles. 

The looks of the cast are also kept under wraps. The movie is all set to release on 19 April 2019.
