The British-Pakistani singer Zayn Malik recently left the Indian music enthusiasts in awe with his attempt to sing the cover of Kailash Kher's iconic song Teri Deewani. Despite not being too successful, the former 'One Direction' vocalist's effort was appreciated by his followers.

Somehow the news also reached the original composer of the Sufi song. Kailash Kher has himself watched the video and felt "humbled" and "honoured" to know that his musical creation has reached overseas. "Teri Deewani inspires many people around the globe," he gushed.

Surprisingly, Kailash Kher, who has made a great name in the field of music was unaware of Zayn Malik's identity until last Saturday. He admitted, "I didn’t even know who he was until someone sent me the video saying, ‘Look, who sang your song’. I was like, ‘Kaun hai bhai?’"

He added, "I went on to his Instagram [account], and saw that he has covered the song, and he has over 27 million followers. That’s when I learnt about him and came to know that he is a big pop star in the West, who is a huge icon."

Along the singer has some suggestion for the English vocalist to improve his skill in music. "For Zayn Malik, I would suggest... we have our digital academy (Kailash Kher Academy of Learning Arts) coming up soon... [so] to know and learn the correct codes and nuances. It will help him improve his skills on such songs."

The singer, however, is extremely proud of his creation. "It feels nice, and I feel extremely honoured when your writing and compositions can inspire millions globally, truly. To see Teri Deewani resonate with so many people across different age groups is an extremely humbling feeling as an artist," he expressed.
