Bollywood film 'Ishqeria' starring Richa Chadha and Neil Nitin Mukesh has been in the making since 2014, but is finally now readying for release on September 21, 2018. The delayed release may have become lucky for the film, as Ishqeria is now the first Bollywood film to release simultaneously in India and China on September 21.
The film's co-producer Yusuf Shaikh said in a statement, "We are absolutely ecstatic and proud that we are the first in Bollywood industry to release our film 'Ishqeria' in India as well as in China simultaneously on September 21, 2018. The film has been passed by the censor board in China and soon we will finalise the chain."
He added, "So far all those who have seen it have loved the film and the good part is that they all love the music very much. Hopefully, we can make the Chinese dance to this lovely Indian music by Papon."
Directed by Prerna Wadhawan, Ishqeria tells the tale of college love, but instead of a boy going after the girl, the situation is reversed. Richa Chadha plays the role of an over confident Kuhu, who after completing her schooling in an all-girls school is ready to be the center of male attention.
She comes across the good-looking and sober Raghav (Neil Nitin Mukesh) and its love at first sight; but only for her. Kuhu, with her friends, sets out on a mission to woo the serious Raghav, taking up diets, 'coincidently' jogging at the same time as him, and generally shadowing him around.
In the past 3 years, Indian films have made a total of $418 million in China, which is considered to be the fastest-growing film market in the world. Bollywood films such as Dangal, Secret Superstar and Bajrangi Bhaijaan have proved to be massive hits in China, with Dangal bringing in nearly $196 million at the Chinese box office.
