Irrfan Khan Starrer 'Doob: No Bed of Roses' Becomes Bangladesh's Oscar Entry

Bollywood superstar Irrfan Khan is already famous worldwide for his acting he is the only actor that makes any flop movie hit by his acting skills. Now his movie "Doob- No Bed of roses", once banned in Bangladesh, has now been selected as the country's official entry for the Academy Awards 2019.

The Bangladesh Oscar Committee select this movie for the best foreign language film category, media reported on Monday.

The India-Bangladesh co-production, written and directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, and features Rokeya Prachi as Irrfan's wife, Parno Mittra plays her childhood friend and Nusrat Imrose Tisha plays the daughter and Indian actress.

In a statement, Farooki said that he took a inspiration from a real-life incident "which shook the very foundation of Bangladesh's judgmental Muslim society" and "how women struggle in our society and find strength in despair".

The film walked on more thorns as it was banned in Bangladesh on the grounds that it might be based on the real-life author of filmmaker Ahmed, who divorced his wife of 27 years and married an actress who is 33 years and his junior.

Rima Das's, independent feature 'Village Rockstars' became India's Official entry to Oscars 2019 in the category of Best Foreign Language film.

Village Rockstars is the first Assamese film to be submitted for Oscars consideration. The Assamese film was also named Best Feature Film at the 65th National Film Awards. It had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and at the Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival in India in October 2017.

The 91st Academy Awards will be going to begin on February 24, 2019.
