IIFA Awards: Sridevi, Irrfan Khan and Anupam Kher Bag Top Honours

The much anticipated Bollywood awards function ‘IIFA 2018’ took place on Sunday in Bangkok. Veteran actor Sridevi was posthumously awarded the best performance in a leading role- female category for her class act in the thriller 'Mom'. Sridevi had bagged the National Awards for the best actress for the same role. Actor Irrfan Khan who is currently battling cancer was awarded the best performance in leading role-men for his role in the film ‘Hindi Medium’. Irrfan is undergoing treatment in London and could not personally receive the awards.

Vidya Balan and Neha Dhupia starrer 'Tumhari Sulu' was given the best film award. The film has managed to get nominations in seven categories.

Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher was honoured for “Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema’.

The best director award was given to Saket Chaudhary for the film ‘Hindi Medium’.

Meher Vij was awarded the best actress in a supporting role for her portrayal of Najma in the film Secret Superstar. Meher played the mother of child star Insia (played by Zaira Wasim).

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui received the award for best actor in a supporting role for the movie ‘Mom’ which he dedicated to Sridevi as a tribute to her.

Amit V Masurkar won the best story award for Newton while Nitish Tiwari and Shreyas Jain got the best screenplay award for Bareilly ki Barfi.

Arijit Singh received the best playback singer (male) for the song Hawayein from Jab Harry Met Sejal while Meghna Mishra won the best playback singer (female) award for the song ‘Main Kaun Hoon’ from the movie Secret Superstar.

The best music director award was jointly shared by Amaal Mallik, Tanishk Bagchi and Akhil Sachdeva for 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania'.

Actress Kriti Sanon was given the Style Icon of the year award.
