Good News! Fanney Khan Release For Friday Confirmed, As Supreme Court Rejects Plea

In good news for fans who have been waiting for the release of Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Fanney Khan, the film will be released as per schedule on Friday, after the Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition against the release of Fanney Khan.

Producer Vashu Bhagnani had filed petitions before the Delhi and Bombay High Courts and then sought transfer of the cases to the Supreme Court to stay the release of Fanney Khan, claiming that his company Pooja Entertainment and Films Ltd held exclusive distribution rights for the film.

The Delhi High Court had on July 19 also instructed Bhagnani not to interfere with the release of Fanney Khan.

Bhagnani claimed that his company had  exclusive rights to distribute, exhibit and exploit the commercial and non-commercial theatrical rights for "Fanney Khan" throughout India and that they had entered into a deal with the co-producer of the film in December last year.

The producer said that Pooja Entertainment had signed a multi-project deal with Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment who was earlier co-producing Fanney Khan. Pooja Entertainment claimed that it had already paid Rs 8.50 crore out of the agreed Rs 10 crore for the distribution rights.

However, Prernaa had dropped the film from her project list after a few months.

Directed by Atul Manjrekar and co-produced by Atul Manjrekar, Bhushan Kumar, and Anil Kapoor among others, Fanney Khan also stars Rajkummar Rao. The film follows the tale of Fanney Khan, played by Anil Kapoor, who had dreams to be become a professional singer but could not fulfil his dreams.

Fanney's daughter Lata, played by Pihu Sand, also dreams to become a singer but battles body shaming as she is overweight. In a bid to launch and fund his daughter's singing career, Fanney kidnaps famous singer Baby Singh, played by Aishwarya, along with the help of his friend Adhir (Rajkummar Rao).
